League of Nations. UEFA Executive Committee changed the format of the 2020/2021 tournament

Today in Ljubljana departsmoose a meeting of the UEFA Executive Committee, in whichstatement participation of the President of the Ukrainian Football Association, member of the UEFA Executive Committee Andriy Pavelko.

One from the decisions of UEFA Executive Committee members has become changing the format of the League of Nations 2020/2021. From now on, 16 teams will play in divisions A, B, and C, and seven teams in division D.

Members of Division A

Portugal, the Netherlands, England, Switzerland, Belgium, France, Spain, Italy, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ukraine, Denmark, Sweden, Croatia, Poland, Germany, Iceland.

The composition of the Division B participants

Russia, Scotland, Slovakia, Bulgaria, Austria, Norway, Turkey, Israel, Wales, Serbia, Ireland, Hungary, Czech Republic, Finland, Northern Ireland, Romania.

Members of Division C.

Greece, Northern Macedonia, Estonia, Armenia, Albania, Kosovo, Slovenia, Azerbaijan, Montenegro, Belarus, Lithuania, Kazakhstan, Georgia, Cyprus, Luxembourg, Moldova.

Members of Division D

Gibraltar, Andorra, Faroe Islands, Malta, Latvia, San Marino, Liechtenstein.

Regulations

In divisions A, B and C, participants will be divided into four groups of four teams. The winners of the groups in Division A will play in the final stage of the competition (semifinals and final). The host country will be chosen from among the finalists. The teams that take the last places in their quartets will move to Division B.

The teams that take the first places in the divisions B and C will rise according to the divisions A and B. The teams that take the last places in the division B will advance to the division C.

The two worst teams in Division C will go on to Division D. 

In Division D, teams will be divided into two groups (four and three teams).

Match calendar

1st round: September 3-5, 2020.

2st round: September 6-8, 2020.

3st round: October 8-10, 2020.

4st round: October 11-13, 2020.

5st round: November 12-14, 2020.

6st round: November 15-17, 2020.

Final of the tournament: June 2-6, 2021.

The draw of the League of Nations 2020/2021 will take place in Amsterdam on March 3, 2020.
