Champions League. Shakhtar has launched a European Cup campaign with a strong-willed victory over Genk

In the first match of the confrontation between the vice-champions of Ukraine and Belgium, the fate of the meeting was determined by successful replacements of the Pitmen's coach.

At the beginning of Roberto de Derby's debut match at the head of Shakhtar in the European Cups, the Pitmen generally had a game advantage over the opponent. Genk players also tried to act aggressively, quite hard in martial arts and maintain a high pace, but the orange and black controlled the ball better and constantly tried to meet opponents high.

In the first half, the tension at Vandervoordt's goal arose regularly. Dodo repeatedly fired sharp shots, Tete, Solomon and Pedrinho made dangerous shots, but the Belgian goalkeeper acted reliably. The hosts attacked much less often and more monotonously, trying to address the ball to their tall forward Onuachu (over 2 m tall).

And, oddly enough, this technique worked. One of the crosses performed by Ito was missed by Donetsk residents, and Vitao could not oppose anything to the Genk grenadier on the second floor. 1: 0. It was the Belgian club's first goal in this match.

After the break, Shakhtar's game was also pleasing to the eye, the Pitmen combined in the opponent's half of the field, but the accentuated and accurate final shot was not enough. However, the chances appeared for the hosts. In particular, in the 54th minute, the same Onuachu struck from the turn, and de Derby's wards were saved by Trubin's skill.

In the end, Shakhtar's efforts were rewarded. Pedrinho earned an 11-meter dash in a duel with Munoz, and Tete equalized from the penalty spot. After that, the Orange and Blacks had to spend more time in defense, but they managed a counterattack. And it was attended by substitutes - Marlos, Ismaili and Alan Patrick. 1: 2.

As part of Shakhtar, the players of the Ukrainian national team who took part in Euro 2020 came on the field: Trubin, Matvienko (replaced in the 64th minute), Marlos (came on as a substitute in the 64th minute), Stepanenko (came on as a substitute for 73rd minute).

The return match in Kyiv at the Olimpiysky National Sports Complex will take place on August 10.
