The winner of the women's football tournament at the Olympic Games was the team of Canada, which beat Sweden in a penalty shootout.

On August 6, the teams of Sweden and Canada met in the final match of the Olympic Games in Tokyo. The main time ended in a draw - Jesse Fleming responded to Wall Blaktenius' goal with her accurate shot from the 11-meter mark.

In the end, the winner was a series of penalties - the Canadian team was stronger. This is the first victory for the Canadian national team at the Olympic Games. Earlier, the Canadians twice finished third.

We will add that the bronze medals were won by the national team of the USA which in a match for the third place beat Australia (4: 3).
