Decisions of the UEFA Executive Committee: 2030 football development strategy, appointment of tournament hosts, Euro applications

Strategy for sustainable development of football-2030
The UEFA Executive Committee has approved a new one Strategy for sustainable development of football-2030 - "Strength through unity". It is a long-term commitment of UEFA, which, in close cooperation with all stakeholders, will enable the governing body of European football to inspire, activate and accelerate collective action on socially responsible and environmentally sound methods in the context of European football.
The strategy aims to mobilize member associations, leagues and clubs around a common approach based on clearly defined goals and key performance indicators to invest in the future prosperity of football.
Research on the possible holding of the World Cup every two years
The UEFA Executive Committee was provided with the results of an independent study carried out at UEFA's request to assess the economic impact on European national associations of a possible biennial World Cup and a new calendar of matches for men's and women's football teams.
The report's findings, which raise serious concerns about the sustainability of the plan for European associations, complement several comments from various stakeholders on the impact on different areas of football and football tournaments.
Appointment of the hosts of the final tournaments
The UEFA Executive Committee has entrusted Portugal with holding the final of the women's Euro 2022 futsal in March next year. It will be recalled that the participants of the tournament are Ukraine, Portugal, Spain and Russia.
The Latvian Football Federation has been selected to host the UEFA Champions League 2021/2022 Futsal Champions League final in the spring at the Arena Riga Stadium.
Tournament regulations
In accordance with the general decision adopted by UEFA in the summer, the executive committee approved the abolition of the away goal rule in the UEFA League of Nations matches 2020/2021, which will take place in March 2022, and in the youth matches of Euro-2023 in September next year.
The UEFA Medical Regulations (2022 version) have been approved and will enter into force on 1 July 2022. It will be published on the official UEFA website.
Applications for the Euro
UEFA will soon launch the application process for Euro 2032 (in parallel with Euro 2028), which is open to all 55 national associations. The move comes after the start of applications for Euro 2028 in September this year and aims to help associations develop long-term plans for the game in their countries and provide more precise requirements and conditions for partners and rights holders. More information on the application process will be provided later.
The next meeting of the executive committee will take place on March 22, 2022 in Nyon.
