The new head coach of the Malta national team Michele Marcolini spoke at a special press conference about his vision of the team's game and defined the main goal.

The 47-year-old Italian specialist, in particular, said: "I am very proud to be appointed head coach of the Malta national team. I think about the difficult task of getting the most out of players who have increased their level significantly recently.

I will definitely build on the good work done by my predecessor, but I intend to introduce some of my own ideas to hopefully improve the game even further.

My first goal is to strengthen the team with true values ​​such as education, respect and self-sacrifice. A team built around them will play better and show the aggressiveness and drive needed to succeed.

Despite the fact that I have never been a national team coach, you have to start somewhere. However, over the years of my football career, I have gained experience off the field and on the field, which will help me earn the recognition of the local fans."

We will remind, on October 9, the draw for the qualification of the European Championship 2024 took place in Frankfurt am Main, according to the results of which the national team of Ukraine have been drawn to group C, where he will meet Italy, England, North Macedonia and Malta. The Blue and Yellows will play Malta at home on June 19, and away on October 17, 2023.
