A letter to the UAF from FIFA and UEFA regarding the situation in the Ukrainian Football Association

In the House of Football, a meeting was held between the President of the UAF, a member of the UEFA Executive Committee, Andrii Pavelko, and representatives of the sports media.many topical issues were discussed.

In particular, journalists inquired about the legitimacy of the letter published on social networks addressed to the UAF from FIFA and UEFA, in which it was emphasized that the membership of national football associations in international bodies is guaranteed exclusively by strict compliance with the statutes of FIFA and UEFA, and, accordingly, by the independence of the activities of national football structures. And any violation of this rule "may lead to the suspension of the membership of the UAF in FIFA and UEFA in accordance with Art. 16 of the FIFA Statute and Art. 9 of the UEFA Statute".

Regarding the situation in the Ukrainian Football Association

Dear first vice-presidents!

We refer to your letter of December 8, 2022 and the subsequent events alleged to have occurred since that time in relation to the Ukrainian Football Association (UAF).

We note with serious concern that members of the UAF Executive Committee are allegedly being pressured to sign demands for an extraordinary meeting of the UAF Executive Committee.

In this context, we remind you of the obligations of the UAF according to Art. 14, par. 1 summer i) and Art. 19 of the FIFA Charter and Art. 7bis, par. 2 of the UEFA Statute to manage its affairs independently and without undue influence from third parties. Any violation of this obligation may lead to the suspension of the membership of the UAF in FIFA and UEFA in accordance with Art. 16 of the FIFA Statute and Art. 9 of the UEFA Statute.

Going forward, we sincerely hope that the situation can be resolved amicably and ask that you keep us informed of any developments in this regard so that we can assess the need for any potential further steps. In the meantime, we remain at your complete disposal.
