Donetsk "Shakhtar" started in the Europa League playoffs with a home match against the French "Marseille", which took place in Hamburg.

Marino Pushych's wards took third place in Group H of the Champions League and have moved in the Europa League. There, they began their journey from the play-off round, where they dropped out to face "Marseille". Shakhtar hosted the French in Hamburg today, and it was their first official match of 2024.

The starting 45 minutes were evenly matched. Teams alternately possessed the initiative. Rough fighting was enough. The best moment of the orange and black team was Zubkov's shot under the crossbar in the first minutes, which the goalkeeper pulled away. Several more dangerous attacks by miners did not find a logical conclusion.

"Marseille" started the second half better: Unahi scored near the post, Riznyk Zhigo checked with his head. The Ukrainians responded with a dangerous shot by Zubkov near the nine. Later, Shakhtar's defenders forgot Enrique at the far post, but he forgave. In the next attack, Lopez parried Sikan's shot from an acute angle.

In the 64th minute, the French opened the score — Aubameyang closed Kloss' pass in the penalty area. However, the miners hit back very quickly when Matvienko capitalized on Kloss's mistake with a free kick near his own goal. "Marseille" immediately responded with a dangerous moment, but Enrique's shot failed.

In the 90th minute, the French managed to score for the second time - Aubameyang broke into the penalty area and passed it to the center, and Ndiaye beat Riznyk. However, Shakhtar quickly restored the status quo again when Eginaldu blocked Zubkov's pass. As a result, we have a productive draw - 2:2. The return match will be held on February 22 in Marseille.
