Euro-2025 (U-21): Ukraine beat Azerbaijan in Baku
Today, on March 26, in Baku, the youth national team of Ukraine held its next match in the Euro-2025 (U-21) qualifying tournament against the Azerbaijan team.
Four days ago, the blue-yellow team played a friendly match against the Morocco U-23 team in Antalya, Turkey (1:0). Now, our team arrived in Baku for an official game, and came on the pitch as the leader of the group with five victories in five matches.

The blue-yellow team immediately seized the initiative - Smolyakov from a free kick and Krasnopir from play tested the goalkeeper, Rubchynskyi shot past the goal. The hosts responded with Dzhafarov's shot on goal. In the 25th minute, our team took the lead - after a corner, Yatsyk finished Krupskyi's pass.

The Azerbaijanis could win back when Akhundzade pushed past the defenders and went to meet Nescheret, but Ruslan won the duel. Following that, the Ukrainian national team had a good solo run by Batagov, who played with his partner but hit the ball weakly. In the 40th minute, Ocheretko doubled the advantage of the guests, completing a cool combination after a pass from Bragaru.

The course of the game did not change in the second half. In the 56th minute, after Ocheretko's throw-in, Rubchynskyi scored the third goal of the blue-yellow team from deep. Then, our team continued to create moments, but stopped at the final 3:0. The sixth consecutive victory of Unai Melgosa's wards in the campaign!
