2019 World Cup selection: Ukraine's women's national team could not stand in Sweden

On August 30, in the Swedish city of Gothenburg, as part of the 2019 World Cup qualifiers, the national women's national team of Ukraine met with the leader of Group 4 - the Swedish team.

Recall that in the last match between these teams, which took place in June, Vladimir Reva's team with a minimal score (1: 0) beat the Swedes, creating a sensation.

Before the reporting match, the Ukrainian coach could not count on two main players - Tamila Khimich and Tetyana Kozyrenko for various reasons. Wanting to rehabilitate for the defeat in Lviv, the hosts rushed to the gates of Kateryna Samson from the start. Especially unrestrained were Jacobsson of Glass, who constantly terrorized our left flank. Olga Basanskaya could only sympathize. The Ukrainians were able to respond in the 14th minute after a corner kick, Daria Kravets dangerously punched her head. In the 27th minute, the captain of the guests Daria Apanashchenko punched from outside the penalty area, the ball hit the defender of the Swedish team, flew almost in the "nine", but Lindal was able to pull it.

The Swedes further increased the pace after that, and by the 34th minute the Ukrainian defense could not resist. Elin Rubenson opened the scoring with a touchdown kick.

Less than five minutes later, the Ukrainians had to get the ball out of the net for the second time. Again, a quick attack of the hosts took place, which was completed by Ericsson at the second pace.

The beginning of the second half was a continuation of the first half of the game. Without slowing down, the mistresses continued to carry out almost all their attacks on the right flank. At the 51 minute mark, Kosovar Aslani eliminated all questions about the winner of the match, scoring the third goal. Peter Gerhardson's wives had a few more occasions to bring the score to a crushing defeat, however, Catherine Samson showed her skill by breaking the applause even with Swedish fans.

The Ukrainians tried to score at least the ball, but the hosts did not reach the dangerous moments at the gate.

After giving way to the Swedes, our girls lost the chance to enter the playoff round of the 2019 World Cup. Now the national team of Ukraine needs to complete the selection on a major note, having defeated the team of Hungary on September 4 in Ternopil.
