Andriy Shevchenko: "The match with Turkey was useful in the first place in the information sense"

Head coach of the national team of Ukraine Andriy Shevchenko spoke with media representatives at a press conference after match with Turkey.

- We were pleased to hold a match here, we received a lot of useful information, - said Andriy Shevchenko. - We, as well as the national team of Turkey, involved many young players. This match was useful primarily in the information sense.

There were a lot of unused goal moments in the game - both for us and for the hosts. Today about 10 football players played for the national team of Ukraine, who played for the youth team yesterday. And they showed themselves very well.

- The national team of Ukraine now consists of young players. Which team do you want to create and who can you single out for today's match in both national teams?

- Several of our leaders were injured. I hope that they will resume before the start of the qualifying tournament for the European Championship. First of all, it was useful for me today to see the potential of young players, and I was pleased to see. I want to express my gratitude to the Turkish national team, which provided the heat of the fight. An interesting match turned out.

I also want to mention all the players, both in my team and in the opponent. Footballers of both national teams acted with high motivation.

It is a great pleasure for me to come to Turkey. I am very pleased that I am remembered here as a player and known as a coach.

- What can you say about the head of the Turkish national team Mircea Lucescu, who worked in Ukraine for a long time?

- I have a lot of respect for Mircea Lucescu as a coach who has done a lot in football. I can only say kind words about this specialist.
