FIFA has increased the number of participants in the final tournament of the Women's World Cup

With the expansion of the number of participants in the 2023 World Cup among women in the national team of Ukraine, the chances of finally making their debut at the World Cup are increasing. 

The FIFA Council unanimously voted in favor of the proposal to increase the number of teams that will participate in the 2023 Women's World Cup. Now not 24 but 32 teams will get to the final part of the tournament.

The women's national team of Ukraine tried to make it to the World Cup final six times, and, unfortunately, so far it has not managed to do so. The blue and yellows reached the playoffs three times, but lost each time: in 1999 - Germany (0: 5, 1: 1), in 2011 - Norway (0: 1, 0: 2) and Italy (0 : 3, 0: 0), in 2015 - again in Italy (1: 2, 2: 2).

The qualifying matches for the 2023 World Cup will take place in 2021-2022. FIFA's decision to expand the list of participants in the World Cup final increases the chances of the women's national team of Ukraine to finally make its debut at the World Cup. 

Currently, the main women's team of the country is participating in the selection for Euro-2021. Natalia Zinchenko's wards play in Group I together with the national teams of Germany, Ireland, Montenegro and Greece. The Ukrainians failed to start in the qualifying tournament, losing in Lviv to eight-time European champions, the Germans (0: 8), and they have seven more matches ahead.

It will be recalled that the final tournament of the Women's Euro will take place in England in July 2021. Of the 47 teams participating in the qualifiers, 15 will reach the decisive stage. Nine winners of the selected groups and three best second teams will join England as the host of the European Championship. Six more teams, which will be second in their groups, will play in the last three matches in head-to-head matches.
