2019: results of the year for the national team of Ukraine

It was simply a unique year in the biography of the national team of Ukraine.

No defeats in 10 matches, including eight matches selection round of the Euro-2020, the defeat of the strong team of Serbia in Lviv, the victory in the sum of two matches over the current champions of Europe and the winners of the UEFA League of Nations, the Portuguese - all this happened in 2019.

Andriy Shevchenko managed to achieve what he wanted and build a team that knows how to play football from a position of strength, controls the ball and the course of events on the field, combines, scores and misses little. All this is very different from the traditional models of Ukrainian football - power, set up for strong defense and counterattack, but our team, it turns out, can play as in the past year.

In 2019, after a long break, the national team returned to Dnipro and discovered the eighth city of Ukraine - Zaporozhye. And "Slavutych-Arena" became the 12th national stadium to host its matches.

In 2019, the blue-yellows have a new scorer - Roman Yaremchuk, Andrei Pyatov exceeded Alexander Shovkovsky's record according to the number of matches for the national team among goalkeepers, the fourth naturalized legionnaire and the third Brazilian - Junior Moraes - made their debut, the first representatives of "Atalanta", "Lecce", "Celtic", "Valladolid" played. The club's geography is constantly expanding, and this is a complex result of both the work of the players themselves and the performances of the national team.

And ahead - UEFA EURO 2020, the third consecutive European Championship for the national team of Ukraine, which can be a great springboard in the careers of many players. This is a great opportunity, but it still needs to be seized.
