Champions League. Shakhtar lost to Real Madrid by a large margin

In the third round of the group tournament of the Champions League, the orange and blacks had to prove the reality of their plans for the European Cup spring, because in two starting rounds they earned only one point in the table.

The task of Roberto de Derby's team was complicated by the injury of key defender Mykola Matvienko, which was announced by the Italian specialist at the pre-match press conference. His compatriot Carlo Ancelotti also failed to involve all the strongest in Kyiv (in particular, Carvajal, Isco, Jovic and Azar), however, the personnel potential of the Royal Club allows to cope with such losses.    

At the beginning of the match, Shakhtar's players controlled the ball well, but Real quickly showed how they can overcome the opponent's defense: by the 7th minute, the team scored three very serious shots on goal, not letting Trubin get bored. Although the pressure of the guests increased over time, the orange and blacks did not deviate from their model, trying to carefully prepare attacks.

However, the Pitmen created the first real moment not as a positional attack, but as an instant attack: Trubin and Maicon actually took Solomon out of Courtois in two touches, but the Madrid goalkeeper calmed the situation with a timely exit from the goal. Soon Tete did not have time to close the dangerous shot Ismail. But somewhere in the middle of the half, Carlo Ancelotti's charges took control of the ball. Donetsk residents found it increasingly difficult to get out of defense due to the growing lack of programs.

The advantage of the Spanish club materialized in Kryvtsov's own goal at the end of the half. Lucas Vazquez made a pass from the right flank, and Sergei unsuccessfully put his foot, cutting the ball into his own net. There was a lack of overflows for the Pitmen even after Real's players played numerous corners, and Trubin neutralized several of Benzema's shots.      

Shakhtar had two new players in the second half - Marlos and Marcos Antonio, but there was no turning point. On the contrary, the unsuccessful draw of the out in his half of the field Dodo with Kryvtsov led to the second missed ball - Vinicius Junior scored. Then the Brazilian striker dealt with the home team's defense on his own, making a double, to which he added a goal pass to Rodrigo. The final score was set by Benzema in overtime.

De Derby's charges had several chances to score a goal of prestige, but did not realize them and remain without goals in the current group stage. The club from Madrid managed to take revenge on the Pitmen for two defeats last year's Champions League.

Kryvtsov (own goal), Kornienko (came on as a substitute in the 75th minute) and Stepanenko (came on as a substitute in the 79th minute) were among Shakhtar's players who took part in the October training camp of the Ukrainian national team.
