Representatives of Ukraine successfully performed at the European Futsal Championship among higher education institutions in Croatia

The European Futsal Championship among higher education institutions was held in the Croatian city of Split from July 18 to 26.

Our country was represented at these competitions by two teams — the champion of Ukraine among male student teams, the College of Physical Education (Ivano-Frankivsk), and the female team of the Ukrainian State University named after M. Drahomanova (Kyiv), who is the winner of the Cup of Ukraine among female student teams.

Ukrainian futsal players won the men's tournament. At the group stage, the representatives of the College of Physical Education defeated the University of Bern (Croatia) — 4:3, the Swiss Federal Institute of Sports (Switzerland) — 11:3, the University of Reims (France) — 8:1, the Estonian Security Academy (Estonia) — 16:1 . In the quarterfinals, the Ivano-Frankivsk team defeated the Caucasus International University (Georgia) 2:2 (5:4 on penalty kicks), in the semifinals they beat the University of Toulouse (France) 5:2, and in the final again they defeated the University of Bernay 4:3.

In turn, Ukrainian futsal players took second place in the women's tournament. The team of the Ukrainian State University named after M. Drahomanova beat the University of Zagreb (Croatia) — 2:0 and the University of Coimbra (Portugal) — 7:1 at the group stage. In the quarterfinals, Kyiv beat the University of Tampere (Finland) — 5:2, in the semifinals they defeated the University of Lisbon (Portugal) — 6:0, but in the final they lost to the University of King Juan Carlos (Spain) — 4:8.

Also, two referees from Ukraine - Maria Myslovska (Sumy) and Taras Demyanchuk (Ivano-Frankivsk) worked at the current European Championship among higher education institutions.

We should add that the previous European Championship among higher education institutions was held in 2019 in Braga, Portugal. Then the women's team of the Ukrainian State University named after M. Drahomanova won bronze medals, and the men's team of Kharkiv National University named after V. Karazina became the silver medalist of the competition.

In 2022, futsal competitions among institutions of higher education were included in the program of the European University Games, which took place in Lodz, Poland. Then the women's team of the Kharkiv National University of Economics named after S. Kuznetsia became the silver medalist of the competition, and the men's team of KhNU named after V. Karazina took fifth place.
