Euro-2024 (U-19): Ukraine players shared their impressions after the winning performance in the elite round of qualifying
The youth national team of Ukraine U-19 displayed a convincing victory in the final match of the elite round of the Euro-2024 qualifying against Switzerland - 3:0 and reached the final part of the tournament.
This success was commented on by the players of our team — Ramil Gadzhyev and Matviy Ponomarenko.
"From the beginning of the match, we tried to play as simply as possible and not to invent anything, because we were satisfied with a draw. But, despite this, we did not sit back in defense, but tried to impose our game on the Swiss. And at the end of the match, it brought a result - we scored three goals and confidently won.
We are satisfied with this victory because we have been working towards it for a long time. We set ourselves up for success and believed until the end that we could do it. As time has shown, we were capable of it," said Ramil Gadzhyev.
"Emotions are overflowing, because we have done something incredible. I want to thank everyone who supported us, and especially the soldiers of the Armed Forces, thanks to whom we are here and can play football. Without you, this success would not have happened," Matviy Ponomarenko added.
We will remind that the final part of Euro-2024 (U-19) will be held on July 15-28, 2024 in Northern Ireland and will become an UEFA qualifying for the 2025 World Cup (U-20).

The draw for the final tournament takes place on April 17 in Belfast (starting at 17:00 Kyiv time). In addition to Northern Ireland, Ukraine, Italy (current champion), France, Spain, Turkey, Norway and Denmark will take part in the tournament. The hosts take their place in the starting position of A1, the other teams of the team will be divided into two groups. The two best teams from each quartet advance to the semi-finals, which will be played at Windsor Park in Belfast on July 28.
The match for the third place is not scheduled, but for the fifth place, it will take place, since Europe delegates five representatives to the 2025 World Cup among U-20 teams, which will be held in Chile with the participation of 24 national teams. So the winner of the match between the third teams of the groups will join the four semi-finalists. Like the semi-finals, it is scheduled for July 25.
