The national futsal team of Ukraine defeated the hosts at the tournament in Lithuania

Today, April 13, the Ukrainian futsal team started the international tournament in Lithuania with a match against the hosts.

Our team gathered for the first time in 2024 to compete in competitions with the participation of Brazil, France and Lithuania, which is the host of Euro-2026. In the first match in Jonava, Oleksandr Kosenko's wards faced the hosts of the tournament.

At the beginning of the match, the blue-yellow team wasted several good moments, once the Lithuanians were saved by the post. In the middle of the first half, the Lithuanian national team threatened the goal of Sukhov, and in the 10th minute, after a ricochet from Korsun, they opened the scoring.

However, our guys didn't take long to respond - after the throw-out, Melnyk scored a great shot into the near corner. In the 15th minute, Korsun and Zvarych brought the Ukrainian national team ahead and increased its advantage.

At the beginning of the second half, Chernyavskyi scored the fourth goal against the Lithuanians from a free kick. In the 30th minute, the hosts reduced the deficit, and Zagurskas also converted a free kick. In the last seconds of the match, a great combination of our team was completed by Pedyash at the far post, setting the final score — 5:2.

Oleksandr Kosenko's wards will play their next match at the tournament on April 15, against Brazil.

We will remind you that the Ukrainian futsal team is preparing for the final tournament of the World Cup, which will be held in Uzbekistan from September 14 to October 6. Our team issued a license in December of last year after the victory over Poland (5:3) in the elite round of qualification. Oleksandr Kosenko's wards took first place in their group and received a direct ticket to the World Cup. Together with Ukraine, Kazakhstan, France, Spain and Portugal won tickets from Europe. Two more lucky winners will be determined on April 17, after the play-off matches between Netherlands and Finland, as well as Poland and Croatia. All participants of the final tournament will be known by April 28, after the completion of the regional qualifying competitions. The draw will take place in the summer in Tashkent, the specific date will be announced later.
