Serhii Sapronov: "The benefit of the UEFA Development Tournament is its informativeness"

From April 17 to 22, Bosnia and Herzegovina will host the UEFA Women's Development Tournament WU-16, in which, in addition to the hosts, football players from Ukraine, Slovenia and North Macedonia will also take part.

The head coach of the girls' national team of Ukraine, Serhiy Sapronov, in a comment to the official UAF website, spoke about the latest news from the team's location.

— The Ukrainian delegation includes 20 soccer players. Invited all the strongest players of this age?

— Before leaving for the Balkans, we held a short-term training camp in Lviv, where we trained at the local University of Physical Culture.

It should be clarified that the delegation includes only three soccer players who were previously called up to the national team: goalkeeper Anna Kharchenko, midfielders Evelina Kuptsova and Karolina Ruban. The rest are football players born in 2009, who were selected during the all-Ukrainian competitions of this age group. Unfortunately, for various reasons, defenders of "Kryvbas" Elizaveta Naidyonova and Anastasia Shvorin, who I wanted to see in the national team, will not help us in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

— What is the benefit of this UEFA Development Tournament?

— For the vast majority of girls, this will be their first international experience. The same can be said about our rivals. It is important that, according to the rules of the competition, each of the announced football players must spend at least 90 minutes on the field after the results of three matches. So everyone will have the necessary game practice, and coaches will have an opportunity to see what their wards are worth.

— Who will help you at the tournament?

— Natalia Churikova and Yurii Panfilov, who will be responsible for training goalkeepers.
