On Friday, August 28, the youth national team of Ukraine held the first training session as part of the training camp on the eve of two away matches of the European Championship-2021 (U-21) qualifiers with the teams of Denmark and Finland.

The last time the "youth" gathered was in November 2019 and was to hold two qualifying matches for the European Championship in March 2020, but the COVID-19 pandemic suddenly intervened in football plans.

In the training, which took place at the STC. V. Bannikov in Kyiv and lasted more than an hour, 22 players took part, called by the coach of the blue-yellows Ruslan Rotan to the training camp.

After the warm-up, the youth players worked on controlling the ball in 5x2 squares, after which they focused on the tactical part of the work, in particular - exits from defense to attack.

In the second half of the training, the players took part in a two-way game on half of the field.

"Finally we got together, the guys arrived at the location of the team in a great mood! I want to thank the coaches of all the teams that released their players on time. For us, these three days are like a breath of fresh air, because we haven't seen each other for nine months. It was important for the boys to remember the basics of our game mechanism. And still I see that such things are forgotten over time. Now it is important that the guys remember everything and transfer the ideas of the coaching staff to the game, "said Ruslan Rotan, the head coach of the U-21 national team of Ukraine.

The youth team is planning a sparring match with Donetsk "Olympic". It will take place on August 30 at the STC. V. Bannikov. According to Rotan, this control match will be key in the process of resuming the team game after a long break: "The return of game ties is possible only through the game, so the match with" Olympic "will be important for us. After the sparring, we will be systematically preparing for the Euro 2021 qualifiers. "

It will be recalled that the team will work in Kyiv until September 3, and then take a charter flight to Aalborg, Denmark, where the 4 European Championship qualifier match against Denmark will take place on the 2021th. On September 8, the national team of Ukraine in Helsinki will meet with peers from Finland.
