Volodymyr Yezerskyi: "The main task for our coaching staff is to restore football players"
The head coach of the youth national team of Ukraine Volodymyr Yezerskyi summed up the results of the match of the elite round of the Euro-2022 (U-19) selection against the team of Serbia (1: 1).
- We played against a worthy opponent who won the Netherlands in the first round, - said Volodymyr Yezersky. - Serbia is an organized, balanced team that aims to get to the European Championship.
In the first half, while my wards were strong, we looked good. After the score became 1: 1, we could go ahead more than once, but we were unlucky.
In the second half it became much more difficult for us, as the team began to decline functionally, yet the lack of playing practice for a long time speaks for itself. The opponent controlled the ball more, led the game, but my guys are good, they showed character, managed to hold a draw. So now the fate of the ticket to the final part of the tournament will be decided in the last round.
Again, now the main task for our coaching staff is to restore the players, which will be extremely difficult, given the time and our human resources. For example, before the match with the Netherlands, due to two warnings from Puzankov, we were left with one goalkeeper…
It will be recalled that in order to reach the final tournament, the Ukrainians need to take first place in the group.
