Euro-2023 (U-21). Youth national team of Ukraine in the final tournament: all matches, personnel potential

At the beginning of July 2023, the youth national team of Ukraine became the medalist of the European Championship for the second time in history (after silver at Euro-2006 (U-21) qualifying round) and won the right to play in the football tournament of the Olympic Games for the first time in history.

It will be held from July 24 to August 9, 2024 at the stadiums of France (Bordeaux, Lyon, Marseille, Nantes, Nice, Paris, Saint-Etienne), half of the participants (eight out of 16) are already known. In addition to Ukraine, teams from the Dominican Republic, Egypt, Israel, Spain, Morocco, the USA and France will also play in the men's football tournament at the Olympic Games.

In the coming days, the third participant from Africa will be known, in September - the only team from Oceania, in the spring of 2024 - three representatives from Asia. Plus, the winners of two passes in South America should be determined, and a playoff between representatives of Africa and Asia is still expected.

The only nuance: the basic age of footballers for applying for Euro-2023 matches (U-21) is 2000, and for the Olympic Games - 2001 (plus three footballers in the application can be older, and without restrictions - at least 35 years old ).

Therefore, at the Olympic Games, we will see a slightly different team, which will continue to care Ruslan Rotan. After all, there were seven players older than 2023 in the application for Euro-2001.

And in September 2023, a new selection cycle for the European youth championship - Euro-2025 (U-21) will begin. The national team of Ukraine got into group F, in which it will play with the teams of England, Serbia, Northern Ireland, Azerbaijan and Luxembourg. The basic age of football players is the year of birth in 2002. That is, in the composition of this national team, the coach of which should be decided in the near future, a large number of current winners of Euro-2023, who can boast of the experience of winning against such powerful teams as Croatia, Romania and France, can play.
