Women's Champions League. "Vorskla" won their group and advanced to the second round of the tournament

Vorskla Poltava defeated Croatian Osijek in the finals of the first round of the 2023/2024 Women's Champions League.

On June 30, Nyon, Switzerland took place of the draw the first round of the Women's Champions League. In the 2023/2024 season, for the first time in history, Ukraine will be represented in these competitions by two teams - Poltava "Vorskla" (the successor to "Zhytlobuda-2"), which plays on the Champions' Road, and Kryvyi Rih "Kryvbas", which competes on the Road of League Representatives.  

By the will of the draw, "Vorskla" at this stage got into group 2, the matches of which were held in Sarajevo, Bosnia. In the semi-finals, Poltava defeated the Estonian "Flora" in extra time (4:3), and in the final they played against the Croatian "Osijek".

In the first half, the Ukrainian women had a significant game advantage, which resulted in a double by Andrukhiv and a goal by Kozlova. In the second half of the meeting, the Croatians did not even manage to wet the score - 3:0 in favor of the white and green.

So "Vorskla" won the tournament in Group 2 and qualified for the second round of the Women's Champions League 2023/2024, the draw for which will be held on September 15. There, the teams will be divided into pairs, and they will play each other at home and away. The 12 winners of this stage will advance to the group stage, where Barcelona, ​​Lyon, Bayern and Chelsea are already waiting for them.

We will remind that "Kryvbas" ended up in group 3, the matches of which are held in Linköping, Sweden. There, in the 1/2 finals, the Kryvyi Rih women lost to the French "Paris" (0:4), and in the match for the 3rd place they will meet with the hosts from Linköping.
