The women's futsal team of Ukraine lost to Italy in the first match

The women's futsal team of Ukraine held the first away friendly match with the Italian team.

The first training session of our girls in 2024 began on March 12. Oleg Shaitanov's wards arrived in Taranto for two friendly matches with the Italian women as part of the preparations for the 2025 World Cup qualification.

The hosts started the match better, several times Terekh had to rescue our team. Finally, in the 14th minute, Butima made a great turn in front of the goal and opened the scoring. The Ukrainians responded quickly - after a quick throw-in by Terekh, Forsyuk realized her moment. However, before the break, Coppari managed to restore Italy's lead by striking from the right flank.

At the beginning of the second half, the blue-yellow team equalized the score again: Terekh took the ball near her own goal, ran through the half of the field, and passed it to Dubytska, who assisted Forsyuk. Our goalkeeper did not forget about direct duties, making many saves.

The blue-yellow team responded with their moments, in particular, Kuznetsova's shot was inaccurate twice. In the 35th minute, the Italians took the lead again when Butima closed the far post. Shortly after throwing forward from her partner, Butima scored a hat trick. In the future, Hrytsenko could reduce the gap of our national team, but she did not beat Sestari, and Burlachenko did not score from a favorable position.

So the first friendly game ended with a victory for the hosts — 4:2. The second match between the national teams of Italy and Ukraine takes place tomorrow in Taranto (kick-off at 20:00 Kyiv time).

Women's Futsal World Cup 2025. European qualification. Format

26 teams compete for four tickets to the World Championship in the main and elite rounds.

Participants: England, Belgium, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Gibraltar, Spain, Italy, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Netherlands, Norway, Northern Ireland, Poland, Portugal, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Hungary, Ukraine, Finland, France, Croatia, Czech Republic, Sweden.

Spain and Portugal received direct tickets to the elite round. If the European team gets the right to host the World Cup, it will become the owner of a direct ticket to the final stage.

Main round (draw and match dates to be determined later)

24 teams will be divided into six quartets. The group winners and, if necessary, the best team among the runners-up will advance to the elite round.

Eight teams, including Spain and Portugal, will be divided into two quartets. The two best teams from each group will advance to the finals.

The first women's futsal world championship will kick-off in 2025. 16 teams will take part in the tournament. Quotas for participation in the World Cup are distributed as follows: Europe — 4, South America — 3, Asia — 3, Africa — 2, CONCACAF — 2, Oceania — 1. Another place will go to the host country.

Following the introduction of the Women's Futsal World Cup, UEFA will expand the Women's Futsal Euro to eight teams. The tournament will be held every four years, and the next one will be held in 2027.

Recall that all three European Women's Futsal Championships held so far — in 2019, 2022 (postponed from 2021) and 2023 — were won by Spain. The national team of Ukraine took the fourth, third and second places, respectively, at these forums.
