The women's futsal team of Ukraine lost to Italy for the second time

The women's futsal team of Ukraine played the second away friendly match with the Italian team.

As part of the preparations for the 2025 World Cup qualifying, the blue-yellow team arrived in Taranto for two friendly matches with the Italian women. The first game ended with a victory for the hosts — 4:2.

The second match started again with the pressure of Squadra Azurra, to which the Ukrainians responded with a dangerous shot by Hrytsenko past the goal. In the 8th minute, Mytrofanska rescued our team after a shot by Grieco. However, Ferrara soon opened the scoring after a corner. Butima soon finished her partner's cross and doubled her team's lead.

Then the Italians did not convert several moments, and Stepanenko stood out for the Ukrainians with a good shot from a distance. Butima scored again in the 18th minute, using a forward throw. In a moment, Berthe made the score 4:0 with the help of a ricochet.

At the start of the second half of the game, the teams exchanged moments. However, the Italians took the initiative very quickly, and Mansueto scored in the 23rd minute. In the future, Mytrofanska had to come to the rescue again, the blue-yellow team can note two Kuznetsova shots on goal. Towards the end of the game, the intensity decreased, but this did not prevent the Italians from scoring and establishing the final score of the match — 6:0.

Women's Futsal World Cup 2025. European qualification. Format

26 teams compete for four tickets to the World Championship in the main and elite rounds.

Participants: England, Belgium, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Gibraltar, Spain, Italy, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Netherlands, Norway, Northern Ireland, Poland, Portugal, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Hungary, Ukraine, Finland, France, Croatia, Czech Republic, Sweden.

Spain and Portugal received direct tickets to the elite round. If the European team gets the right to host the World Cup, it will become the owner of a direct ticket to the final stage.

Main round (draw and match dates to be determined later)

24 teams will be divided into six quartets. The group winners and, if necessary, the best team among the runners-up will advance to the elite round.

Eight teams, including Spain and Portugal, will be divided into two quartets. The two best teams from each group will advance to the finals.

The first women's futsal world championship will kick-off in 2025. 16 teams will take part in the tournament. Quotas for participation in the World Cup are distributed as follows: Europe — 4, South America — 3, Asia — 3, Africa — 2, CONCACAF — 2, Oceania — 1. Another place will go to the host country.

Following the introduction of the Women's Futsal World Cup, UEFA will expand the Women's Futsal Euro to eight teams. The tournament will be held every four years, and the next one will be held in 2027.

Recall that all three European Women's Futsal Championships held so far — in 2019, 2022 (postponed from 2021) and 2023 — were won by Spain. The national team of Ukraine took the fourth, third and second places, respectively, at these forums.
