Yuriy Moroz: "The last team showed that a place in the squad for the Euros is not reserved for anyone"

The head coach of the youth national team of Ukraine U-17 Yury Moroz summed up the results of the last gathering.

The youth national team of Ukraine (football players not older than 2007), who are preparing for the final part of Euro-2024 (U-17), completed the training camp, during which they held two sparring matches against the Cyprus team (2:0, 1:2).

The results of the work with the official website of the UAF were shared by the head coach of the blue and yellow team Yuriy Moroz:

— At the last meeting, in addition to the boys who were called up earlier, the coaching staff also used the nearest reserve. And I can say that the matches against Cyprus, especially the first match, showed that these football players have potential. Therefore, the competition in the team is growing, and a place in the team for the European Championship is not reserved for anyone.

As for the second game, we had some personnel problems, so we could not rotate during the match, but even despite the negative result, the boys tried and did not concede to the opponent in anything.

I was satisfied with the meeting itself, it was useful for both the players and the coaching staff. Football players began to understand our requirements, the principles of the game, and this is good on the eve of the Euro.

On March 12, our team under the leadership of Yuriy Moroz finished the fight in the elite round of Euro-2024 selection among players under 17 years old with a victory over Slovakia (3:0). Considering the fact that earlier the blue-yellow team defeated Greece (2:0) and Switzerland (3:0), they became the winners of group 4 and holders of tickets to the final tournament.

The forum itself, with the participation of 16 national teams, will be held from May 20 to June 5, 2024 in Cyprus - at six stadiums in Achna, Larnaca, Paralimni and Limassol. Eight winners of the groups of the elite round of selection and seven runners-up with the best results entered the final stage, where the host country immediately entered, based on the results of the March matches (Belgium turned out to be redundant).

Let's add that for the Ukrainian national team U-17 this will be the 11th final tournament at European Championship.
