2019 Women's World Cup: Ukraine defeated Croatia

On April 5, in the Croatian city of Zadar, the national women's national team of Ukraine held its third match in the 2019 World Cup qualifiers.

It will be recalled that last year it was the Croats who took points from our girls, snatching a draw in Lviv.

The starting minutes of the match passed with a slight advantage of the Ukrainians. But the first dangerous moment was created by the hosts in the 15th minute. After the free-kick, the ball swirled in the blue-yellow penalty area, but our defenders did not allow us to strike.

And almost immediately the Ukrainians responded: a quick attack on the right flank ended in a dangerous shot from Daria Apanashchenko, but the transfer did not find the recipient.

After this attack, our girls firmly took the initiative, which eventually materialized in the goal. The hosts fouled Veronica Andrukhiv near their own penalty area, Olga Basanska started to follow the standard, and after her canopy Matea Boshnyak unsuccessfully put her head in place, and the ball ended up in the net. 0: 1.

The ending of the first half proved to be a failure for the owners who failed to keep our forward Tatiana Kozirenko twice. Initially, in the 41st minute, technical Olga Ovdiychuk outplayed two opponents and made a cross to the goal line, where Kozirenko, successfully selecting a position, with his head left no chance of rescue Doris Bacic. 0: 2.

And in a few minutes Tatiana brought a double to her assets. The Croatians again could not get out from under the high pressure in the performance of the Ukrainians, and our forward after a split pass from Ovdiychuk went alone with the goalkeeper and brought the score to a crushing in the first half of the match. 0: 3.

The second half did not change the picture of the game. The blue-yellows skillfully dried the game and controlled the course of events on the field, playing on the courage. All efforts of the owners were broken in the center of the field. When Bozhidar Miletic's wards began to fade, they began to fumble.

In the end - a convincing victory for Ukrainian women. Already on Monday, they will hold their next match, in which their rivals will be powerful Danes.
