Euro-2019 (U-21): Ukraine's youth team wins heavy victory over Andorra

A match of youth national teams within the framework of the Euro-2019 (U-21) Ukraine-Andorra qualifying tournament took place in Zaporizhia today.

Alexander Golovko's team continues to fight for the final second position in the selection group table, which gives a chance to participate in the final tournament of the Youth Euro. Another step towards the goal was the Ukrainians meeting with the group's outsider.

In comparison with recent game against Latvia in the starting lineup of blue and yellow there were three changes. Instead of Makhankov, Rusyn and Vakulka, Kanevtsev, Boryachuk and Nazarin came out, and for the latter this match became the debut for the youth team.

Ukrainian players have long failed to overcome the intense protection of the Andorran players, who tried in every possible way to slow down the pace and calm the course of the match. Only in the 30th minute did the blue and yellow strike the first accentuated blow, however, they managed to create three real opportunities for the goal before the break. Twice after the shots of the Swede, the Andorran goalkeeper made impressive saves.

After a break in the composition of the hosts there were two changes, there were new attacking performers - Tretyakov and Rusyn. But the real assault on the Ukrainians began only after the 75th minute. Moments began to appear one after another, and in the 86th minute the Swede scored above the goal from the 11-meter, which he himself earned. But Marian did not give up and in the next attack struck a great blow to the top corner from a long distance, removing the psychological burden from the whole team. The ball of the Karpaty forward, who continued his goal benefit in matches for the club and the national team, remained the only one and brought the team of Oleksandr Golovko the much-needed three tournament points.
