Anatoly Buznik: "From the Universiade in Naples we want to return the champions"

At the end of December, a meeting of the Executive Committee of the All-Ukrainian Student Football Association was held, in particular, the preparation of the national team of Ukraine for the World Universiade, which will be hosted by Italian Naples in July.

- So far, our work is without failures, - said the head coach of the student team of Ukraine Anatoliy Buznik. - It is important that thanks to the support of the VFAS leadership, what was planned last year was fulfilled. In particular, for the first time a year before the World Universiade, they held as many as three training camps, even went to Slovakia, where they competed with one of the local teams. I am convinced that all this will be a great help.

- When will your wards gather again?

- From January 16 to 26, we plan to take part in the Oleg Makarov Memorial. I don't know yet who will be our rivals, but I asked the organizers to play with strong opponents. It should be noted that in this tournament I plan to involve mainly players who represent the teams of the first and second leagues. There should be no problems with their invitation, because the clubs they honor are just starting to prepare for the spring part of the season.

- And what about those football players who play in the university all-Ukrainian championship and who played under your leadership last year?

- Their capabilities are already well known, and, of course, we will continue to closely monitor them in this year's competition. So far, selection work is underway.

- When are you going to finally decide on the performers who will represent Ukraine in Naples?

- In June in Khust, Transcarpathia, the traditional international tournament "Carpathian space" will take place. We are making efforts to have the student teams of neighboring countries - Romania, Hungary, Slovakia - become our opponents. Here are the players who will be involved in Khust and will go to Italy.

- Have you already decided on your assistants?

- Oleksiy Yatsenko, who coaches the team of Kyiv University of Trade and Economics, will help me at the Oleg Makarov Memorial. And in Khust and Naples, I also count on Stepan Yurchyshyn, who was my assistant at the previous Universiade in Taipei.

- What are your hopes?'do you perform in Naples?

- I will note that this will be the 30th anniversary of the Summer World Universiade, and the leadership has set us a specific task - to achieve maximum results. We really want to continue the victorious traditions of our predecessors, who in 2007 and 2009 in Bangkok and Belgrade, respectively, have already become champions of the student football forum.
