Vitaliy Odegov: “The team had motivation and morale, and it was very nice to win a Euro tour”

Head coach of the Futsal youth team of Ukraine Vitaliy Odegov praised the success of his team in the selection for Euro-2019.

In the main round of selection for the debut European U-19 Futsal Championship blue and yellow won three victories in three matches. Having taken first place in the group, our team became one of eight participants the final part of the championship, which will be hosted by Riga, Latvia, on September 8-14.

After returning from Macedonia to Ukraine, the coach of the junior national team Vitaliy Odegov commented on the official site of the FFU the result of the selection:

- The motivation of the guys was at a high level, the team had a great morale. We all went to these victories, and it was very nice to win a ticket to Euro-2019.

- Which match of the qualifying round turned out to be the most difficult for the national team of Ukraine?

- The fight against Belgium - the strongest opponent. And in general, any starting match is not easy. The Belgians have a good, qualified team. We lost twice in the course of the match and played twice, and in the end we managed to score the winning ball.

- In the game with Romania was there last minute relaxation?

- There was no relaxation. We were leading 5: 1, but in futsal there are sometimes moments when opponents play with five outfield players and have the initiative for a long time. It is good if you manage to punish them by sending the ball into the empty net. We did not manage to realize the moments that arose, so the game became nervous. However, everything ended well for our team.

- When do you start preparing for Euro 2019?

- Preparation never ends, the work continues at the moment. After draw of the final stage in June we will get to know our rivals in the group, so we will be preparing in more detail.

— When is the next youth team gathering scheduled?

- Most likely, we will gather in May. We will hold several meetings before the matches of the final stage, which will take place in September. There are no potential rivals in sparring yet, as we could not plan anything in advance before the matches of the main qualifying round. Now this process will begin.
