The Bulgarian youth team is the bronze medalist of the Valery Lobanovsky Tournament
In the match for the third place at the Tournament of Valery Lobanovsky, the youth national team of Bulgaria defeated the team of Cyprus in a penalty shootout.
In the semifinals of the Bulgarians after a series of penalties inferior to the Israelisand the Cypriots with a devastating account lost to the Ukrainians. Thus, in the confrontation teams had to determine the bronze medalist of the competition.
The Bulgarians actually pressed their opponents to their penalty area from the start. The Balkans regularly set standards and performed crosses on both flanks, but the Cypriots' defense was skilfully defended. There were several really dangerous moments near the gates of Demetriou. In particular, in one case, the defender of the islanders almost cut the ball behind the back of his own goalkeeper.

Before the break, the Bulgarian national team was let down by Andrea Hristov, who left his team in the minority, receiving a second warning. The numerical majority helped the nominal hosts in the second half to play more sharply in the attack, but it did not bring them goal moments. Instead, the Bulgarians created some good opportunities. Dimitrov stood out in particular. However, the Cypriot team was lucky enough to survive and hold out until the penalty shootout.
