Oleg Shaitanov: “We will make every effort to reach the final of the European Championship again”

The head coach of the women's national team of Ukraine futsal Oleg Shaitanov in interview with the AFU press service summarized the draw of the main round of the Euro-2021 qualification and spoke about the preparation for the upcoming friendly with Portugal.

- Olezh Mykolayovych, it happened yesterday draw of the main round of Euro-2021 selection. How do you rate the group 3 contenders that our team is in?

- Impressions are the same as two years ago. The lot is cast. We have got to know our rivals and we will work hard to get to the finals of the European Championship again.

- How do you feel about the team again will play in Lviv? 

- I take this fact with great positivity. We are glad that we will hold the matches of the women's national team in Lviv again. We had great support during the matches of the main qualifying round of Euro 2019 in Cherkasy. Now I want to show this sports holiday to the people of Lviv. After the Lviv Freedom Cup tournament, I am convinced that local fans will also passionately support our team.

- How interesting it will be to play with Lviv participants again Freedom cup?

- Indeed, it so happened that two of the three teams in our group took part in the Lviv tournament. We had a face-to-face match with the Finnish national team, which seemed very difficult, although we won - 5:2. The Czech national team fights were also visible. It will be fun to play with both teams.

- What do you know about the national teams that can get into our group following the results of the previous round?

- Undoubtedly, we are best acquainted with the national team of Kazakhstan, as we met with this team as part of the main qualifying round of Euro 2019. She also saw her potential at the Student World Championships in Almaty. The women's futsal is developing, so all teams are getting stronger. We do not have too much information about Belgium and Gibraltar, but now we will follow them more closely than we do with all our other rivals.

- The dates of international friendly matches with Portugal have already been set. How will you prepare for these confrontations?

- The matches will take place on March 24 and 25 in Coimbra. The women's team will hold a training camp in Brovary, which will begin on March 19 and then travel to Portugal.
