Oleg Shaitanov: "The women's futsal team of Ukraine will hold control matches with Italy in March"
The women's futsal team of Ukraine will prepare to participate in the European qualification of the debut draw of the Women's World Championship. Our team's head coach Oleg Shaitanov shared the plans of the blue-yellow team in a comment on the official UAF website:
"Our closest control games are matches with the Italian national team. Two matches will be held in the city of Taranto on March 18 and 19. We will gather on March 12, and we have several days for training. We plan to attract 15 players to these meetings.
There are arrangements for two test games with the Swedish national team in September this year. All countries are now waiting for the draw. Therefore, I think, the activity will start precisely after everyone finds out which teams they will play with in the selection of the World Cup.
The composition of the women's national team of Ukraine will certainly be updated. We plan to attract several girls to these meetings, who will come to the location of the national team for the first time.
As for motivation, how can you not be motivated by an event like the first selection of the World Cup? This is motivation for both young and our experienced players. For many, this is a childhood dream," said Oleg Shaitanov.
Women's Futsal World Cup 2025. European qualification. Format
26 teams compete for four tickets to the World Championship in the main and elite rounds.
Participants: England, Belgium, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Gibraltar, Spain, Italy, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Netherlands, Norway, Northern Ireland, Poland, Portugal, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Hungary, Ukraine, Finland, France, Croatia, Czech Republic, Sweden.
Spain and Portugal received direct tickets to the elite round. If the European team gets the right to host the World Cup, it will become the owner of a direct ticket to the final stage.

24 teams will be divided into six quartets. The group winners and, if necessary, the best team among the runners-up will advance to the elite round.

Eight teams, including Spain and Portugal, will be divided into two quartets. The two best teams from each group will advance to the finals.
The first women's futsal world championship will kick-off 2025 year. 16 teams will take part in the tournament. The quotas for participation in the World Cup are distributed as follows: Europe - 4, South America - 3, Asia - 3, Africa - 2, CONCACAF - 2, Oceania - 1. Another place will go to the host country.
Following the introduction of the Women's Futsal World Cup, UEFA will expand the Women's Futsal Euro to eight teams. The tournament will be held every four years, and the next one will be held in 2027.
Recall that all three European Women's Futsal Championships held so far — in 2019, 2022 (postponed from 2021) and 2023 — were won by Spain. The national team of Ukraine took the fourth, third and second places, respectively, at these forums.
