2021: the results of the year for the national football team of Ukraine

In 2021, the Ukrainian futsal team successfully qualified for the 2022 European Championship.

In the end of the year, the Blue and Yellows held 11 international matches - five official and six friendly. Our boys won six victories and lost five times (balls - 42-26).

The national team of Ukraine managed to score in the opponent's goal in nine matches. They scored 15 different players, and the best scorer with six goals was Mykhailo Zvarych.

The year for Oleksandr Kosenko's wards has started with the matches of the Euro 2022 group qualifying round. However, the first match in January with Denmark was canceled due to COVID-19 and eventually postponed to April. Instead, the blue-and-yellows held a sparring match against the national team of Zaporizhia region, in which they won - 5: 3 (goals - Pedyash (2), Korolyshyn, Eremin, Myk. Hrytsyna). After that, our team went to Tirana, where they defeated Albania.

In March, the national team of Ukraine lost twice in the selection of Croatia, but in April twice beat Denmark (both matches took place in Zaporozhye). The final game of Group 1 did not take place due to the impossibility of the arrival of the Albanian national team. As a result, the Balkans were credited with a technical defeat with a score of 0: 5. Thus, our team finished second in the quartet, and also became the second among the six teams that took second place and automatically qualified for the finals of Euro-2022.

In autumn, the blue and yellows began preparations for the European Championship in two away sparring matches against Romania, in which the teams exchanged victories. In November and December, the Ukrainians played two friendly matches against Spain and Azerbaijan. And if in the Pyrenees our guys lost and did without goals, in Baku Oleksandr Kosenko's wards twice confidently defeated higher than UEFA ranking team.

According to the results of the draw of the final tournament of Euro-2022, which will be hosted by the Netherlands on January 19 - February 6 next year, the national team of Ukraine got to group 1. There it will play against the hosts, the current European champion Portugal, as well as Serbia, which defeated Belarus in head-to-head matches. The departure to the Netherlands will be preceded by a training camp in Bucha and two sparring matches against Kazakhstan.
