Euro-2022 (U-17): Ukraine's youth national team loses to Poland in elite qualifying round

Today in the Italian town of Colle di Val d'Elsa, Oleg Kuznetsov's team with the support of the local diaspora held the second match in the elite qualifying round of Euro-2022 (U-17).

We will remind, in the first round of an elite round of selection of Euro-2022 the youth national team of Ukraine (football players not older than 2005 of a birth) won a command of Kosovo (2: 0), and today, as the group's leader, she met with Poland.

Compared to the winning match against Kosovo, the head coach of the blue and yellows Oleg Kuznetsov made only two substitutions in the starting lineup of his team. Apparently, the actions of the wards of the mentor were satisfied.

From the first minutes, the Ukrainians took the initiative, they hit the goal more often, gave more corners. But soon the Poles leveled the game. There was a lot of struggle. And again we have to state that the lack of playing tone of our guys affected the collective action. One character was not enough in the first half. Losing after dangerous moments, the Poles waited for their chances and twice hit the goal of Kravets under the curtain of the half.

Due to substitutions during the break, Oleg Kuznetsov tried to change the course of events in the second half. Our team ran forward, but in the 58th minute we missed again. However, the Ukrainians did not give up, and almost immediately reduced the gap in the score thanks to a shot by Gusev. 1: 3.

With the time left until the final whistle, the blue and yellows looked sharper than their opponent. Kremchanin and Gusev dangerously hit the goal, but the Polish goalkeeper was on top. However, the goal was ripe, and in the 88th minute Zen managed to score. 2: 3. The Ukrainians could have tied the score, but they were unlucky. And to sum up the game, the most logical account would be a draw.

It will be recalled that to get to the final tournament you need to take first or second place in the group (in the second case you need to have no worse than in Hungary, which took second place in Group 1 with one gold point) in matches against first and third teams) and the difference of balls -2).

With the same number of points directly in the group according to the regulations take into account primarily personal meetings. Given the situation, the national team of Ukraine needs to take points in the final match with Italy and in certain circumstances to take into account the outcome of the match Poland - Kosovo.

Group C: Serbia, Spain, Turkey, Belgium.

Group D: Denmark, Portugal, Scotland, Sweden.

The two best teams from each group will reach the quarterfinals.
