Women's futsal: selection for the first World Cup will start in 2024, eight teams will compete in the final Euro tournament

UEFA reacted to FIFA's decision to hold the Women's Futsal World Cup and approved changes to the format of the European Championship.

Following the introduction of the Women's Futsal World Cup, UEFA will expand the Women's Futsal Euro to eight teams. The tournament will be held every four years, and the next one will be held in 2027.

Since the first tournament in 2019, the Women's Futsal Euro has been held every two years and ended with a final stage involving four teams. From In 2025, FIFA will host the World Cup with the participation of 16 teams, and eight teams will compete in the final Euro tournament from 2027, according to a decision made at a meeting of the UEFA Executive Committee in Hamburg.

Selection for the first World Cup will start in 2024, its format and regulations will be approved later. Qualification for the next Euro will begin in 2026, and the rules and format of the tournament will also be known later.

As a reminder, all three European Women's Futsal Championships held so far — in 2019, 2022 (postponed from 2021) and 2023 — were won by Spain. The national team of Ukraine took the fourth, third and second places, respectively, at these forums.
