2022: results of the year for the women's national team of futsal

This year, the women's futsal team of Ukraine won the bronze medals of the European Championship 2022 and qualified for Euro 2023.

In January, as part of preparations for Euro-2022, the blue-yellow team held two sparring matches in Buch against the current European champion, the Spanish team. Two friendly away matches with Sweden were planned for the beginning of February, but they were canceled by the Swedish side because the national women's futsal team went into quarantine.

After the start of the large-scale Russian invasion, UEFA moved the final stage of Euro 2022, which was supposed to be held in Gondomar, Portugal in March, to July. Due to the invasion of Russian troops into Ukraine by FIFA and UEFA excluded the Russian national team and clubs of the aggressor country from all competitions under its auspices. Thus, the Russian women's futsal team did not play in the final tournament of Euro-2022, instead Hungary took part in the continental championship, which took second place in its group of the main selection round.

Due to the war, the players of the Ukrainian national team were forced to continue their careers in foreign clubs, and on the eve of the Euro final tournament, the blue-yellow team held a month-long training session, which took place in San Marino, Italy, France and Portugal. During this period, the Ukrainian women played sparring matches with the national teams of Italy and Portugal, the Italian "Bagnolo" and the French "Nantes Metropole".

At the beginning of July, in the semifinals of Euro-2022, Oleh Shaitanov's wards lost to Spain, which ended up winning the title for the second time in history, but in the match for third place, our team beat Hungary and won the bronze medals of the European Championship.

As Euro 2022 was postponed by a year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, our team immediately had to switch to Euro 2023 selection. Ukraine began its journey in the main round, and was supposed to be the host of the mini-tournament, but due to Russian aggression, UEFA moved the matches of the quartet to Poland.

In October, the blue-and-yellow team played the NTZ in the Polish city of Mendziszdroje, after which they moved to Poznań, where the main round matches were held. There, the Ukrainian national team defeated the Netherlands and Croatia and drew with Poland, which allowed our girls break through for the third out of three European Women's Championships. The final tournament will take place on March 16-19 next year in Debrecen, Hungary, and in addition to the host women, the opponents of the Ukrainian women will be the Spanish and Portuguese women.

In 2022, 11 players scored as part of the women's futsal team of Ukraine, and Yulia Tytova was the top scorer with eight goals. By the way, this year she became an assistant to the head coach Oleg Shaitanov.
