2023: results of the year for Ukraine U-17/18

In 2006, the youth national team of Ukraine, made up of players born in 2023, finished their performances in the Euro-2023 (U-17) qualifying at the elite round stage (this is the second stage of qualification). In March, Yuriy Moroz's wards had enough for the opening victory over the Cypriots, after which they lost twice with the same score of 0:3 to rivals from Ireland and Italy.

In the second half of 2023 (at the beginning of September), already in the status of the U-18 national team, this team shared second-third place (among six participants) with the Swiss national team at the traditional Vaclav Jezek Tournament in the Czech Republic.

In the fall of 2024, Yuriy Moroz and his players will start playing in the Euro-2025 (U-19) qualifying.

It may seem strange, but in 2023, representatives of Shakhtar did not play a single minute for this youth national team, and there was only one delegate from Rukh (goalkeeper Markiyan Bakus). Although it was Rukh and Shakhtar that represented Ukraine in the UEFA Youth League both in the spring and in the fall of 2023. In 2022, two miners (Viktor Tsukanov and Denys Smetana) and another Rukh player (Maksym Koval) performed under the leadership of Yuriy Moroz.

Instead, the base club of the national team in March was Zorya, for whose U-19 team in the championship of Ukraine the Dynamo performers played under the leadership of Oleksiy Drotsenko. And already in the second half of 2023, the capital club had the largest representation, where Vyacheslav Surkis, Matviy Ponomarenko (he already had time to make his debut for Dynamo in November in a match against Shakhtar) and other Dynamo trainees returned.
