Euro 2022 in futsal. The national team of Ukraine dramatically made its way to the quarterfinals of the tournament

У the third match of the final tournament of Euro-2022 Ukrainian national futsal team lost to Portugal, but reached the quarterfinals.

In the previous games of the European Championship, the blue-yellows lost to Netherlands (2:3) and defeated Serbia (6:1). On the eve of the final round in Group A there were many scenarios as to who will eventually make it to the playoffs. However, the most desirable result for Oleksandr Kosenko's wards today was a victory.

The decisive match at this stage of the national team of Ukraine had to be held in Groningen against Portugal - the current champion of Europe and the world. It is this opponent inflicted our team lost in the previous continental championship.

Unfortunately, Oleksandr Kosenko could count on only 10 players today - Razuvanov, Radevych, Pedyash and Farenyuk couldn't help the team.

In the first half, the game was even, the Ukrainians attacked more, and the Portuguese focused on the second number. In the 2nd minute, Zvarych scored next to the "nine", to which Jorge Braza's charges responded with several blows. Later, after a great combination, Chernyavsky hit the post, Souza parried a good shot by Zhurba. Pacho could have scored in the 7th minute, but he missed the goal from a few meters.

In the middle of the half Zvarych lost a good moment - he failed to tame the ball in front of the goal. Later, Lebid and Chernyavsky scored blows to the plane. The Portuguese responded with a close-range shot by Bruno Coelho, pulled by Tsipun. In the 19th minute, our goalkeeper coped with a powerful shot by Brito after a corner.

At the beginning of the second half he double-checked Tsypuna Zikki, and later - Afonso and Bruno Coelho. Our guys responded with Abakshin's shot past the goal, Chernyavsky lost a good moment - he did not beat the goalkeeper in close combat. Over time, the blue and yellows began to take risks, playing with the fifth field. Unfortunately, Zvarych was injured at one of these moments.

Abakshin scored a dangerous touch in the 29th minute - the opponents were saved by the goalkeeper. Later, Angelo parried Tsipun's shot from a few meters. Unfortunately, in the 37th minute, the Portuguese still managed to break through our goalkeeper - said Zicki. After that there were moments in Zhurba and Gray, but Souza rescued his team.

As a result, the blue and yellows lost to the reigning European and world champions, but made it to the quarterfinals thanks to Serbia's strong-willed victory over the Netherlands. Losing in the second half - 0: 2, the Balkans managed to change the course of the meeting - 3: 2. Thus, according to additional indicators, Oleksandr Kosenko's wards took the second place in the group.

Now in the quarterfinals our team will play against the winner of Group B - Kazakhstan. The match will take place in Amsterdam on January 31.
