Valery Palamarchuk: "Sparring with Romanians gave comprehensive information"

In preparation for the qualifying tournament for the 2020 European Championship, which will be held in the Netherlands in early October, the youth women's national team of Ukraine WU-19 twice beat the Romanian in the control matches - 6:2 і 3:1.

- 18 football players went to the neighboring country, - the head coach of the youth women's national team of Ukraine Valery Palamarchuk told in an interview to the official site of UAF. - It should be noted that this is the first time we have gathered in such a team, and in anticipation of the events, I will say that sparring matches with Romanians were very useful and provided comprehensive information about the capabilities of my wards. Taking this opportunity, I would like to pay tribute to the hospitable hosts, who took care to create the right conditions for us - both for rest and for preparation for control matches.

- Since sparring is no longer planned in Kyiv at the final stage of preparation at the end of September, did you experiment with the lineup in Romania?

- Yes, I wanted to see a few football players not only in their usual positions. After all, force majeure situations are possible in the Netherlands. You need to be ready for everything and have alternatives.

- Did all your wards live up to expectations?

- You know, at this stage of preparation it was important to just win, which, without a doubt, added confidence. From my point of view, it is somehow incorrect to evaluate the Romanian game, why, for what reasons they were not ready properly. This is the prerogative of their coaches. As for my wards, I have complaints against them for the second half of the second match, when for some reason they forgot about ball control and started to play on the rebound. We did not agree with them. Also, there is not yet the reliability that we would like in the actions of defenders. In general, I do not want to single anyone out, because football is a team game. Everyone tried to make a contribution, only in some it turned out better, and in others - worse. Fortunately, there is still time to correct the flaws.

- In Romania, you have involved 18 players, and the application for participation in the qualifying tournament in the Netherlands can include 20 players. Are you still going to review potential newcomers at the final stage of preparation?

- Yes, but I have already decided on the backbone of the national team.
